I was driving down the road when it was rainy and the road was very wet.

I could see the prism of colors on the road that alerts me that there is oil. The green, blue, and red colors made me hit the brakes. I was being careful, but it was still hard to see. I was on the way to a delivery for the business where I work. Everyone in town was ordering for delivery, because the rain was falling so heavily. I had three orders for the marijuana delivery service in my car and I didn’t want to let anyone down by getting into an accident. I was in an unfamiliar area, so I was trying to be twice as careful. I saw a pond in the distance. Even though it was dark, I could tell the pond was on the side of the road. There was a large street light by the pond and a giant sign warning motorists to slow down around the turn. The pond was closer to the edge of the road than I anticipated. There was a lot of mud by the road side of the pond. I slipped on the road and I ended up in the mud. I could not find any way to get my car out of the situation, so I called the manager of the marijuana dispensary. I told the manager that I was going to need to call a tow truck. She told me to hold on the line for a moment. She came back and told me that one of the counter clerks had a four-wheel drive truck and he was going to come pull me out of the mud so I could continue working on the marijuana deliveries.

Now that I am the boss here, I need to make some changes and pump up store revenue. For the last few months the place has been under the leadership of a guy named Dave, and Dave was never very good at his job. I am not sure how Dave even got the job in the first place, but under his watch sales declined for several months in a row. Even worse, the corporate accountants believed that Dave was also stealing small amounts of money. A cannabis dispensary does all of the sales transactions in cash – no checks, no credit cards – so there is always a large amount of cash in the store. Once I took over the cannabis dispensary immediately started to turn a profit again. This made me look good, but also proved to me that Dave wasn’t just stealing money but cannabis products, too. The accountants only look at the paperwork, but Dave was erasing entire shipments of cannabis products from the paperwork, and taking it home to sell! The bosses at the cannabis dispensary head office talk to me regularly, and always ask if Dave has come back in the store. If he does I am to tell the security guard to kick him out of the cannabis shop, and then to call the police. They want to press charges against him, now that they believe he might have stolen over ten thousand dollars in cash and cannabis products. I have no control over that, all I can do is keep rebuilding the client base for the cannabis dispensary and take it to new heights.

My store is called the Secret Stash, as a tribute to the days when pot was illegal and everyone had to keep it hidden.

It is a bright new day for pot smokers, however, and my store is living proof of that.

We celebrate not just smoking weed, but all aspects of the cannabis-friendly lifestyle. We work with other local businesses for cross-promotion, and try to maintain a prominent social media presence. One of the things that sets us apart from the other cannabis dispensaries in the area is our weekly “secret sale.” Every week we select a couple of different random items in the cannabis dispensary and discount them – but we don’t tell the customers which ones! Of course the customers do talk to each other, so as soon as one person figures out which cannabis products are discounted, the word spreads fast. There is even a subreddit for our town that posts the Secret Sale cannabis items for the day. I love this! This means that my marketing ploy is working, and getting more people to talk about the cannabis dispensary. Whichever cannabis products are on sale invariably sell out within hours, because they always have a stunning discount. Not only does it help to get the word out to the public, but I can also use the extra discount to sell cannabis products that were just taking up space on the shelf. So far I have not discounted any cannabis strains, I restrict it to edibles, drinks, vape products, and smokeless cannabis. The fresh weed doesn’t need to be on sale to sell.

Bill must have thought that in such a large, busy cannabis dispensary nobody would miss a few hundred bucks, but Bill was wrong.

I was genuinely surprised to find out that the store manager had been stealing cash from the safe. Bill always seemed like such a nice, caring type of guy, he just never struck me as a common thief. He also never struck me as being dumb, but I have to say that stealing cash from your own job is pretty dumb! Corporate accounting software, combined with regular inspections, make it very difficult to steal money without someone noticing. This is a cash-based business, we don’t take checks or credit cards, so the safe is always filled to capacity. Bill must have thought that in such a large, busy cannabis dispensary nobody would miss a few hundred bucks, but Bill was wrong. This is the main reason that the corporate office always hires their own private security guard, who does not answer to the manager of the cannabis dispensary. The bosses want the security team to be independent, because if the manager of the cannabis dispensary is telling them what to do it makes it easier to steal. That is what Bill did, and not only did he lose his job but the cannabis dispensary legal department is pressing charges! This sends a message to all the other cannabis dispensary employees, that if you steal and get caught they will try and send you to jail! I didn’t steal anyway, but the thought of going to jail would certainly keep me from developing “sticky fingers” around the cannabis. Why would I steal anyway when we get such a sweet employee discount on cannabis products?

When my teenage son told me he wanted to try growing marijuna plants, I gave him my blessing.

He is 17 now, old enough to make his own decisions on most things.

Besides, the laws for this state have changed, and any property owner is allowed to grow a few pot plants on their land. Of course there are limits, but if the boy wanted to grow his own weed, I was eager to taste the results. Smoking cannabis has never been an issue around our home. Even though I never smoke marijuana in front of the kids, I never made any secret that I enjoy it. I was especially glad that he brought up the subject, because I myself had been considering the idea of growing marijuana plants. The laws are different now, so why not try growing some cannabis, just to see what happens? The worst case scenario is that I end up with no smokable cannabis, but since I didn’t have any to start with I don’t really lose anything. Now I don’t even have to go through all the effort, because my son will be working in the cannabis patch instead of me. I will still keep an eye on him, and help him out, but he has been reading a lot about botany recently, and he probably knows more about cannabis plants then I ever will. I hope the marijuana laws continue to evolve, because growing plants at home is a nice idea, but a much nicer idea is having a local cannabis dispensary where I can buy whatever I want.

I have to tell you all about the recent drama at work.

This does not happen very often, because it’s a very chill job.

I love working there, I love dealing with customers and helping them discover new strains of weed, but I never invest in the interpersonal drama that is always unfolding between my coworkers. I really don’t care who is dating who, or who said what about someone else, I just want to do my shift, grab a fresh sack of cannabis, and go home to get stoned. What attracted me to this job in the first place was being able to work with cannabis every day, and getting that fat employee discount. I smoke so much marijuana that the employee discount feels like extra money in my pocket. My mother tells me that there would be even more money in my pocket if I didn’t smoke cannabis at all, but what fun would that be? The drama at the cannabis dispensary has gotten out of hand, ever since the new employee started dating the manager. All of a sudden she is getting preferential treatment, and is in line for a pay raise when she has only been at the cannabis dispensary for two months! I really don’t care about them dating, but it does seem unfair that out of all the long-term employees of the cannabis dispensary, she gets moved to the front of the line. So long as I get my hours every week, and I get my cannabis discount, I will just keep minding my own business.

When the city council announced plans to start construction on a cannabis dispensary in the downtown historic district, there was quite an uproar.

People got mad that this kind of business would be built among all the classic and historical buildings in that part of town.

The truth was that the property had been bulldozed, and was a pile of rubble, so any kind of new business would be an improvement. I think the main problem was an issue with cannabis itself, and some older people still hadn’t embraced the new laws. This is stunning to me, because the science is pretty clear about the benefits of using cannabis. A lot of people don’t even want to get high, they have no interest in the psychoactive properties of cannabis, they just want to use it medicinally! I am not one of those people, of course, I love smoking cannabis and not because of the medicinal properties! The point is that a plant cannot be immoral and should never be illegal, not even the cannabis plant. Backwards thinking and stupidity has held back the progress of cannabis long enough, and we are finally entering a golden era. There are more cannabis dispensaries than ever before, selling a wider variety of products, and we can’t let the old-school mentality hold us back. I am excited about this new cannabis dispensary, and the more people argue against it the more I want to support it! I will be there on the day the cannabis dispensary opens, and I hope it makes a lot of old people mad.
