Local cannabis spot is the welcome wagon

I remember when I was a little kid that we moved to a pretty nice neighborhood once my dad got a big promotion.

It was weird for me because I loved the old neighborhood and all my friends.

My mother was over the moon though as she so desperately wanted to be part of that crowd. When she got a welcome basket from the welcome wagon, it was like some sort of graduation. For me, the local cannabis spot was my welcome wagon when I moved. I’m not so much into society or being part of the right group. I had enough of that growing up and hated it. When I moved, it was for a new position and I knew nobody. That’s not as bad as it sounds as I can be fine on my own. However, I was thrilled when I realized that I was moving to a state where recreational marijuana was legal. I had used cannabis when I was in college but put it down when I started my career. This was just what you did because illegal substances like OG kush do not at all fast track careers. Thankfully, times have changed as I’ve now been in the same field for more than twenty years. Since marijuana was legal, I had nothing stopping me from checking out the local cannabis spot. But I had no idea that this decision would end up welcoming me into meeting so many like minded people. The folks at the local cannabis spot were so welcoming and introduced me to many different groups and events in the area. It’s been wonderful to get to know all these people and for once, I actually feel like I fit in somewhere.

Anxiety clipped with sativa strains

For a lot longer than I’m really willing to recognize, my sister has been after me to try marijuana.

Obviously, she and I share DNA and genes and all that.

As different as we are, we both share a propensity for anxiety that leads to depression. And the depression leads to misery. She was actually much more anchored by this weight than I was when we were young. I had ambition that kept driving me and helped me to swallow the fear and the anxiety. But my sister went the other route. She followed a passion for creativity in college. She also found recreational marijuana in college as well. And that’s where she started to really come to terms with her anxiety. She told me, even all those years ago, that sativa strains and even indica and some hybrid strains really helped her work on her anxiety. And she told me how and in great detail. Not only did the sativa strains immediately lift and enhance her mood, the cannabis helped her have a better look at the root of her anxiety. I didn’t listen because using cannabis was for stoners who weren’t even trying. Once medical marijuana was passed, I was truly suffering to the point of not getting to work and isolating myself so profoundly. My sister came to get me and helped me get a medical marijuana card. I was too completely damaged to resist. That medical marijuana card may have very possibly saved my life. I know for sure that cannabis products like blue dream have definitely given me back my life. And it’s a life that is committed to understanding myself and my anxiety better.

Educating myself about cannabis

Before shopping at the dispensary, I wanted to be informed.

I was reluctant to browse without knowing what I wanted or make a purchase without understanding the potential results. Fortunately, there is a lot of information online. With a google search and some reading, I was able to educate myself. I was surprised that cannabis has been used as a medicine and for recreational purposes since ancient times. It can be traced back to both ancient China and ancient Egypt. The terms indica and sativa actually refer to the origins and characteristics of the plant rather than the effects. However, most dispensaries tend to categorize products as indicas, sativas or hybrids. The hybrids are the result of crossbreeding indicas and sativas to achieve THC higher potency or specific effects. Indicas are typically associated with relaxing, calming and sedative effects that are more of a full-body high. They tend to offer higher CBD percentages but can also include plenty of THC. Indicas are recommended for nighttime use. I’ve found that they are great for mellowing out on the weekend or helping me sleep at night. Sativas are associated with a cerebral high and offer energizing, creative and inspiring effects. They are suggested more for daytime use. For me, sativas are great for increasing productivity or motivation on a run or a hike. There are plenty of hybrid strains that are wonderful for focusing on effects such as pain-relief, stress-relief and better mood. Once I had a better understanding of the categories, I started getting more familiar with THC and CBD. They are two of the many cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. THC is responsible for the high sensation. Each one offers medicinal benefits and when combined they are especially beneficial.

Using cannabis to alleviate leg cramps at night

My health is a priority to me.

I want to enjoy a good quality of life for as long as possible.

I realize the importance of taking good care of my body. I don’t eat meat, smoke, eat processed foods and rarely drink alcohol. I invest into premium skin and hair care products and get my teeth cleaned every six months. Every morning, I workout for approximately an hour. Following a thorough warm up of my joints and muscles, I do some kind of high intensity cardio. I vary between running, cycling and jumping rope. I add in strength training, such as lifting free weights, ab crunches, lunges, squats and plank holds. I’ve outfitted my home gym with a yoga mat, battle ropes, hand weights, incline bench, various weights of jump ropes, a stationary bike and mini trampoline. My exercise sessions are intensive and put a great deal of strain on my legs. Over the past year, I’ve begun to have issues with cramps in my calves. While I might feel some tenderness throughout the day, the real problems happen at night. As soon as I lay down and try to sleep, the muscles in my calves start to seize up. I refuse to take anything but plant-based medicine. Fortunately, recreational weed has been legalized in my state. I’m able to pay a visit to the local cannabis dispensary and shop for pain-relieving remedies. I’ve tried a variety of consumption methods, focusing on those products that are high in CBD percentages. CBD has proven effective at alleviating pain and inflammation. I apply cannabis-infused ointments, balms, sprays and roll-ons directly to my calves. I also take a synergistic approach and use tinctures as well as edibles to treat the pain from the inside.

CBD is effective for treating arthritis

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve developed some issues with arthritis in my fingers.

Initially, the symptoms were quite mild.

I noticed a bit of stiffness and swelling in my knuckles. My hands hurt a bit at the end of the day. I managed to find relief with natural home remedies such as drinking dark cherry juice and eating yellow raisins soaked in gin. About a year ago, during the middle of the summer, my fingers swelled up so much and so suddenly that I had to cut off my rings. My knuckles ached so badly that I couldn’t open jars, weed the garden or braid my hair. I struggled with zippers and typing on a keyboard. I worried that my quality of life was permanently diminished. I looked into the different medicines available to treat arthritis and read about the extensive harmful side-effects. I then came across success stories from people who had turned to cannabis to treat arthritis symptoms. As a plant-based medicine, cannabis avoids the long term risks. CBD, a cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant, has proven effective at relieving pain and inflammation. CBD doesn’t cause a high sensation. I am able to use CBD products before, during and after work with no worries. I can go about my regular activities without worry. I choose full spectrum CBD products with a trace of THC because studies have shown that the combination of different cannabinoids and terpenes work best. I apply cannabis-infused topicals directly to my knuckles. I also place a few drops of a tincture under my tongue to treat the arthritis from the inside.

Using cannabis for stress and pain due to job

My job is extremely demanding and stressful.

I work long hours and am responsible for big projects and tight timelines.

Because I spend the majority of my days sitting at a desk, staring at a monitor and typing on a keyboard, I have developed some health issues. The combination of a sedentary lifestyle and lots of pressure has resulted in migraines, insomnia, upset stomach, painful joints and even muscle cramps. I decided against seeing a doctor and getting a prescription for synthetic medicine. I am unwilling to risk side-effects that are far more harmful than my symptoms. I tried a variety of natural home remedies with a bit of success. A coworker of mine suggested a visit to the local cannabis dispensary. Stepping inside the dispensary for the first time was a bit overwhelming. I hadn’t realized there were so many types of products available. I had no idea what to purchase. Fortunately, a budtender greeted me, listened to my issues and was extremely knowledgeable. He helped me explore different options and make smart decisions. I’ve now gotten a little more comfortable with cannabis and have experimented with potency, strains and methods. I’ve found that a combination of vapes and topials work well for me. I use full spectrum CBD ointments to treat pain and inflammation. I use indica vapes for better sleep, relaxation and headache relief. I recently discovered CBD bath bombs that are really wonderful at the end of a long day. Soaking in the hot water opens up the pores, making it easier for the cannabinoids to penetrate and provide benefits. Plus, they are infused with epsom salts and various essential oils. They smell just lovely, and my skin feels great afterward.

Pet CBD products

I rescued a cat literally off the streets.

  • He was a city cat for a few years before he snuck into my house and refused to leave.

Since he was on the streets, he is a bit edsby. I can’t tear aluminum foil, spray windex or vacuum when he is around. If I move suddenly he darts under the bed. I have to use a quiet, gentle voice all the time. I don’t think he was abused, he is just skittish. He also is quite mean. If any other cat comes in the area, he flips out. He chased the neighbor cat across the street and then whipped his butt. I am hoping that I can give my cat something to chill him out. I don’t really want to dose him with something not natural. I am fortunate that there is a cannabis dispensary near me. There are CBD products that are made for pets. You can get pet CBD products for anxiety that calm them down so they can travel. I am looking for something that can just mellow my cat on a day to day basis. There is an edible form that is like a cat treat. My cat could lick this treat that has CBD in it. It should keep him happy and relaxed. I don’t want my cat high all the time or dosed. It is just purely CBD and a lighter form of it. I figure it won’t hurt. I just want to see if I can vacuum and spray cleaners inside. I am not hoping for something huge.
