Friendly competition amongst cannabis dispensaries

There was a time Nelly sold weed at the back of his car.

These were the days when competition was fierce mang sellers.

She was one of the 25 notable sellers dealing with cannabis, and they had to protect buyer lists and selling territory. She actually carried a gun at the time, not because she thought her clients would rob her, but because she was fearful of the other dealers! It was a jungle back in those early days. Fortunately legalization cleared everything out. Thanks to her saving up cash in her previous weed-dealing years, and also finding an investment partner, she is currently the manager of a local, but legal cannabis shop. She expected the competition to be just as fierce, however instead she found the other cannabis shop owners to be polite & respectful. This isn’t a criminal enterprise anymore, this is a legit business! Cannabis may be their inventory of choice, but it’s still just a commodity and all players get along easily. In fact, they have learned that by working together as opposed to against each other leads to all their cannabis shops prospering. Over the summer time they are collectively going to sponsor a Cannabis Fest in the downtown side of town. All of the cannabis dispensaries will be represented in booths & tents, however they are also going to have bands playing live tunes all weekend. There will be food trucks, prizes and giveaways, not forgetting the free samples of new cannabis products, but none of the local cannabis dispensaries could have done this alone. Working together should be profitable for pretty much everyone. Feel free to join them at the Cannabis Fest later this summer.

Who you hire as budtenders matters

Ray stays focused every time he looks up at the sign saying a chain is as strong as its weakest link.

This old adage keeps him motivated as he runs his cannabis dispensary shop.

Ray does not compromise when it comes to employees as he believes a weak link can bring everything down. As such, he has a way of holding all people to a high standard. This may not be everyone’s management style, but as the owner of a cannabis shop, Ray maintains a laser-focus. He doesn’t smoke the weed here but focuses on selling it. He can have some of the week over the weekend with his friends but away from the business. Don’t get high from your own products is a philosophy he has prescribed for years. It is ridiculous to assume that someone who works at a cannabis dispensary would never get stoned, and he doesn’t expect that from staff. However, he does expect them to do as he does, which is to never get high while working at the cannabis shop. He wants his team to be professional, so pretty much everyone who visits them knows they are careful about quality cannabis, as well as the quality of customer service! To ensure his budtenders are motivated to stay sober, Paul offers them a daily bonus of free cannabis. However, all they have to do is to be on time, and to stay sober all month long. He commits to giving winners $100 worth of their favorite choice of cannabis strain! This is definitely a good way to boost the morale at work and helps to keep the team strong and expectant.

Entering the cannabis dispensary world as an investor

Never had I imagined that I would join the weed business. I was a rather experimental person who was on overdrive in my younger days. I got to try different things, some were even illegal. However, after graduating from college, I ditched all the bad drugs and stuck to cannabis only as I still enjoy it to-date. I’ve always known there is something so calming about marijuana, especially because it helps manage my stress. Imagine my satisfaction and surprise when an investment opportunity came. Someone wanted me to invest in a local cannabis dispensary. Well, at first it appeared like a major risk that I wouldn’t want to gamble with. Needed a lot to “buy in” to the cannabis shop but had no guarantees. The process of investing needed me to “cash out” all my investments from other areas and also drain my retirement savings. Besides that was the fact that there may be no returns for a while as the business picked. Despite the huge risk I still chose to become a part of the new cannabis dispensary. The start for business is always tough as profits are non-existent, and the cannabis shop was no different. My partners and I worked long hours for no pay, trying to give the best customer service as well as develop a loyal group of regulars for the cannabis shop. Gradually though, our hard work is paying off, as cannabis sales are rising a little bit every month. In fact, very soon the cannabis shop should be profitable enough and we can start getting the pay! After that we will look into hiring the budtenders to help us with the work.

Not sure if the cannabis products are my cup of tea

We also made cocktails using the cannabis drinks, added some vodka, and ice.

I’m not afraid to try something new, thanks to my adventurous spirit. This is best seen in how I challenge the bartender to get me something new each time I get into a bar. I make it a habit never to choose a drink for myself. Sometimes this works out, but other times it’s a major flop but it is the surprise element that appeals to me the most. In recent times, we tried something similar at the cannabis dispensary. As opposed to buying marijuana as normal, we opted to buy something we hadn’t tried before. One of us got the new cannabis drinks that included fruit juice, lemonade, soda, as well as purified water that had been enriched with THC & CBD. Another friend went for a new flavor of cannabis wax he could use with his dab rig. Cate got a disposable vape pen that came preloaded with three different cannabis oils. That was a decent product called a “randomized vaporizer” which allowed users to randomly hit one of the cannabis oils every time. We then spent that night getting wild at my place, indulging in our new cannabis products. We also made cocktails using the cannabis drinks, added some vodka, and ice. This kicked things into overdrive! It was a fun night, but to be frank, by the time the night was coming to an end, I still craved a pack of traditional cannabis flowers. All the new cannabis products were fun to play around with, but there is no substitute for the real thing. The cannabis buds freshly picked from the plant are certainly the best way to get high.

Making my own cannabis edibles

The COVID lockdown season gave some of us lots of time to play and experiment which is how Tessy her passion for cannabis edible making.

She wanted something different from the old school sweet floored edibles so she got out the recipe books and got to work.

All she needed to do was use a little weed, and it was sad when the quarantine ended and everyone had to go back to work. However, she never lost my interest in cooking, and still does it when time permits. She has since gotten her cannabis-infused cuisine to a perfect state. She doesn’t make the traditional edibles you might be thinking of– hers aren’t the popular pot brownies, cakes, or cookies. Instead, she makes pasta dishes, soups from seafood, as well as fresh-bakes such as breads and rolls, all of which are enhanced with cannabis oil. The essence of cooking with cannabis is the oil. She mastered the art of infusing cannabis into extra-virgin olive oil, and unlocked all the secrets she needed. Once the olive oil has been enriched with the power of cannabis, it transfers that flavor and that THC potency into every ingredient it touches. She finely chopped some veggies and then saute them in cannabis oil, and now she has the base for a delicious pasta sauce that will get anyone super stoned. The great thing about cannabis oil is that it is shelf-stable, and will definitely keep for a while. She made one huge batch of cannabis oil which lasted me for a few weeks which means she can have guests over as long as they come with a bottle of wine.

My family owned some land

Several generations ago my family was wealthy.

  • This is the story I’ve been told by my family, time and again.

Currently the family is not wealthy in the slightest, so I am not 100% convinced they are telling me the truth. The only bit of evidence they have that we ever had money, is a plot of land with a 100-year old house on it, located a few miles away from the city. I have been told that our family helped build and found the town way back in 1837. Of course if you know anything about the area, you know that the settlement reality picked up in 1837, but it would take a long time to become an official town. I have seen the official documents, and we really do own 300 acres of land near the city, although it has sat unused for decades. Having done all my homework on the subject, and the land, I made the long drive to the city to spend a few days exploring my new property. In all likelihood I would just hire a company to sell the land, because I didn’t want to move to the jungle outside of the city for the rest of my life. I was del;ighted to find that the town has a lot of culture, great fishing and sailing, and some truly excellent cannabis strains. I actually spent an extra day in town just visiting all of the different cannabis shops and buying exotic products. As much as I enjoyed there, and the cannabis, the property I owned was disastrous.

I came to the states for a man, but stayed for myself

I met Ed over social media, and within a few weeks we were calling or Facetiming each other every night.

They call this sort of thing a “whirlwind romance” and in our case it led to moving in together very quickly. Too quickly, it turns out! Ed seemed great over long distance, but living with him was a disaster. Because of me being an idiot, I had moved to the states to be with Ed, leaving my previous life half a country away. When we broke up, I made the decision to stay there, because I had grown to love it in a very short period of time. It is not a small town, but it has that small-town feel I adore. It also bears mentioning that I had landed an excellent job at a city cannabis store, and I felt I might actually have a career here. Where I used to live the economy was in shambles and good jobs were hard to come by, but the city was prosperous. Also it bears mentioning that there are an insane number of museums, galleries, parks, trails, and historical sites in the city area. I don’t have a family, but one day I will, and the city seems like an amazing place to raise kids. I guess I do owe Ed a debt of gratitude, because without him I never would have discovered the city, or found such a great job in the cannabis industry. Within a year I will be a store manager, and one day maybe I will own my own cannabis dispensary there.
