Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Those are song lyrics by the Who, and to be honest I never knew what that was supposed to mean until recently. For the last eight months a man named Carl has been the manager of our cannabis dispensary. Carl was not popular with the staff for many reasons, but mostly because he was strict about the rules and regulations. He had the precision and bearing of a military man, which was not a great mindset to have while managing a cannabis dispensary. Cannabis users tend to be a little slow on the uptake, so yelling at them doesn’t motivate them it scares them. Cannabis users need to be guided gently if you want to get the maximum results from them. This is what Carl never understood, because he treated the staff like they were soldiers, when in fact all of them are blazed on cannabis virtually all the time. Not me, of course, I rarely get stoned before I come to work, and I never get stoned while at the cannabis dispensary. Since I do smoke a lot of cannabis outside of work, I am very good at working with stoned people, and being able to keep them focused on work. I will not miss Carl, and I feel I can do a much better job managing the cannabis dispensary than he ever did. Getting my stoned cannabis dispensary employees to do their jobs is akin to herding cats, but luckily I think I’m pretty darned good at herding cats!
