Payroll time was always a huge debacle for me.
Not that I didn’t know how to do payroll.
All I needed were the employees’ time cards and their hourly rate, and I went at it. I hated figuring out the taxes, but that was why I had an accountant. My accountant is now a computer, and it is called the dispensary payroll software. I cross reference all the employees’ hours and rate of pay, and the computer does the rest. Dispensary payroll software did everything someone used to do by hand, and there were fewer problems with the employees because of mistakes in their pay. I remember my mother once got cheated by two cents. She marched up to the office and told them she wanted the money they owed her. They had her talk to the people in the payroll office, and she told them they needed to learn to do their job. She had pulled out her calculator and showed them where they made a mistake. To them, it was just pennies. To my mom, it was hard work she hadn’t gotten paid for. She walked out with the two pennies in her pocket and the feeling that she hadn’t been cheated. I remember this story whenever I look at the dispensary payroll software. I could only imagine how those people in the payroll department felt when mom went off. The dispensary payroll software now took away the fear of confrontation. Who’s going to argue with a computer? I know I would argue with the person running the computer.
